The Osaka Automesse is proud to be the largest scale motor show in the Kansai Region whose theme is the customization of automobiles and related products. For our next exposition in 2018, we are looking forward to presenting our 22nd show. We want to warmly express our thanks to everyone for giving us your understanding and cooperation which have allowed us to continue up to this point.

Looking at the economic environment surrounding automobiles from the number of new cars sold, in 1997, the year that the Osaka Automesse started, there were 6.7 million units sold in Japan. After having gone through a deflationary economy and the Lehman shock, in 2016 the number of new cars sold had fallen to 4.98 million units. On the other hand, looking at the total number of cars people owned, the number went from 71 million units in 1997 to 80.9 million in 2016, an increase of almost 10 million units. As the presence of the automobile has penetrated throughout our society, isn’t it true that the ways of enjoying cars have become ever broader and deeper?

We hope that people who attend the Osaka Automesse will experience something even just a bit more exciting. In order to leave out nothing in displaying the alluring appeal of the cars and customizing into which our exhibitors have poured their creative ingenuity, and to do our small part in contributing to Japan’s automobile industry, we will be exerting ourselves with sincere hearts and minds.
